Doménikos Theotokópoulos (Candía, 1541-Toledo, 1614) known as el Greco, was a painter who worked at the end of renaissance. He lived in Creta until he was 26 years old. After that he lived 10 years in Italy, where he became a renaissance painter, first in Venice learning Titian and Tintoretto’s style and later in Rome studying Michelangelo’s mannerism. In 1577 he traveled to Toledo (Spain), where he lived and worked for the rest of his life.
